Roman Inventions...
In your opinion, what was the Romans best invention? You need to
explain what the invention is and explain why you think it is the greatest
invention.

In my opinion the aqueduct is the best Roman invention. These under and above ground channels, typically made of stone, brick, and volcanic cement, brought fresh water for drinking and bathing. Aqueducts could bring clean water from as far as 50 to 60 miles from springs or rivers. Aqueducts helped keep Romans healthy by carrying away used water and waste and they also took water to farms for irrigation. This is the greatest invention because we still use aqueducts and they are a type of plumbing. If the Romans didn't have aqueducts they would throw their waste out on to the roads like we did in the Middle Ages. That probably would have caused a plague or a serious epidemic. That is why I think that aqueducts are the best Roman invention.

ReplyDeleteWe can thank the Romans for inventing the Julian calendar, which has 365 days a year;366 days a leap year and twelve months and is based on the movement of the sun which is basiclly called the solar calender. The calendar was named after Julius Caesar, a notable Roman general and dictator. In fact, the month of July was named after him.

i think this is the most important roman invention because how else are you going to know whats the date? OR when is your own birthday? OR your favourite holiday?
In my opinion Air Conditioning was the greatest Ancient Roman invention.If in school's on boiling days the classe's temperature can go up to 26°C and if we have Air Conditioning it can call down up to 20°C .
ReplyDeleteI think the best Roman invention was the Aqueducts.Romans made Aqueducts to to bring a constant flow of water from distant sources into cities and towns, supplying public baths, latrines, fountains and private households. Some aqueducts also served water for mining, processing, manufacturing, and agriculture Aqueducts moved water through gravity alone, along a slight downward gradient within conduits of stone, brick or concrete. Most were buried beneath the ground.
ReplyDeleteI think the roads was the Romans best invention because if it wasn’t for roads we wouldn’t know were to drive and cars would have crashed. Roman roads are important because we could have drove into peoples gardens.

The Julian calendar's predecessor, the Roman calendar, was a very complicated lunar calendar, based on the moon phases. It required a group of people to decide when days should be added or removed in order to keep the calendar in sync with the astronomical seasons, marked by equinoxes and solstices.The calendar that we use was created by Romans.The calender is based on the movement of the Earth around the sun,there is 365 days a normal year;and 366 days a leap year,which is every four years.

The Romans
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I think that the romans' best inventions is the sewers and sanitation because back then people would often get sick or die from dirty water from the sewage.The sewage has many human waste.
When drinking dirty water it could give us bad germs that could make us sick and it was dangerous for babies and older people. To fix this problem many romans built aqueducts. This new invention brought fresh, clean water from hills into the town.
The romans also built public latrines and systems pipes to carry the waste into the rivers. This was a big improvement on Greek sewage arrangements'. Then they build public toilet which is much sanitary and cleaner.
Overall, the sewage and sanitation was a great thing that came along and brought even better things and now we use them thanks to the romans.
