ReplyDeleteAthenian democracy developed around the 5th century BC in the Polis (City -State of Athens), made up of the city of Athens and the surrounding territory of Attica, and is the first known .Unfortunately, sources on the other democratic governments in ancient Greece are few and far between. This being the case, the following remarks on democracy are focused on the Athenians. Any citizen could speak to the assembly and vote on decisions by simply holding up their hands. The majority won the day democracy in the world. Democracy was restricted by the Macedonians in 322 BC.
