Now that's extreme reading!

Our Science topic this half term is Earth Sun and Moon.

I'd like you to find out as much as you can about:

  • Any of the planets - including the dwarf planet Pluto
  • Earth - history, plates etc.
  • Sun - what it is and the effects it has on our planet
  • Moon - not just our moon, but the moons of some of the other planets
Present your research as a fact file, model, poster or newspaper article.

We will be learning about mountains in Geography. You could research the UK's highest mountians - remember England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will all have their own highest!

Don'r forget to read EVERY DAY for 20-30 minutes and log your reading in your journal.

Please learn your spellings!

    Dear Ms Sampson,
Our school (staff and students alike) were shocked when our headteacher told us that Hounslow council doesn't recycle school's plastic. Recently our headteacher has been giving us assemblies on plastic waste and how it affects our planet. He has been encouraging us to recycle plastic. Plastic is a useful resource but its waste quite often gets to the ocean. Our headteacher showed us a picture of a dead whale in one assembly. It was killed by plastic. Three-quarters of its tummy was filled with plastic. If we don't do anything about the plastic waste, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish in 2050!

May I please request you to give three plastic recycling boxes to our school and other schools in Hounslow so we can control our plastic waste and make sure it gets recycled. Could you also please continue to collect schools' plastic waste until we stop using plastic.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Atharv Swaminathan
