This term in Science we are looking at Forces.
How would you find out who in your class has the best grip on their shoes.
What investigation could you carry out?
How would you measure the results?
Which of these shoes would be the best for walking in the snow? Why?

You would find out who in our class has the best grip on their shoes by carrying an investigation to check how worthy the grip is on our shoes. The best shoe for walking in the snow is the boots at the bottom because its grip and its materials would keep our feet warm
ReplyDeleteThe boots would be the best for walking in the snow. The high-heels have almost no tread and the heels would just sink in the snow. The slippers have a little bit more tread than the high-heels but the tread is still not enough. The pumps have a little bit more tread than the slippers but the tread is still insufficient. The boots probably have more tread than the other three types of footwear combined. This makes it practical for climbing over rocks and walking on ice.

ReplyDeleteThe boots would be best for walking in snow because it has good grip on the sole. The grip on the pumps and flip flops are flat and smooth and on ice or snow you would probably slip and fall over. The high heel would be even worse as they have no grip at all.(if I wore high heals even without snow I would instantly
fall over!). Wetheras the boots are practically made for rough serfaces.
ReplyDeleteI will ask everyone in my class how slippery their shoes are on a scale of 1 to 10. I will now check the results and write them down on a paper from the worst scale at the bottom of the page to the best scale at the top of the page. The person (or the people) who has the biggest scale will have the best grip on their shoes.
Do you think that this is the most accurate/scientific way of finding out? Is there another test you could carry out?
ReplyDeleteAn investigation you could carry out is if you put tarmac down and on top washing up liquid and water people have to walk normally so it would be a fair test .Otherwise it would be cheating and to prevent any injuries or accidents you could put padding on the outer piece of the tarmac.
ReplyDeleteYou could do a ice patch and ask people to walk on it with different types of shoes.
ReplyDeleteTypes of shoes:
-snow boots
-high heels
-formal shoes
-ballerinas
-flip flops
and other types off shoes.Whoever doesen't slip has the best grip.

That isn't a bad idea!
DeleteFish can move in water easier than us because fish are way more streamlined than humans. Fish have also adapted to living in water because water is where fish live. They also have to escape predators which is why fish have adapted to being streamlined.
ReplyDeleteI've said 'fish' a lot haven't I...
DeleteYes. You have! Phish!
DeleteYou are phonetically correct but Oxford dictionary wrong!
DeleteFish can defenatly move faster than us (well at least me). This is because fish are way way (way) more streamline than us. Also on our bodies we have little hairs and fish don't (wich is to do with the water resistant).
